Living in the sticks of Western PA, I seem to get political literature from the GOP that I'm pretty sure they don't send to anyone else.
Apparently the GOP database people are too cheap to make sure I don't receive letters from Karen Santorum. I mean, hell, send me ten more of those anti-Kerry mailers with the World Trade Center towers exploding -- those remind me why even as a relative conservative I can never be a Republican. I should live to see something more cynical arrive in my mail!
Fascinating enough, the letter names several "ultra-liberal" Democrats but never mentions Bob Casey, Jr. even once! Apparently, Casey is going to be traded for an ultra-liberal-to-be-named later just before the trade deadline.
To make it even better, the letter tries to imply that Casey is pro-abortion.
But, since Karen says she sents this "because we cannot afford to have our message filtered and distorted by the liberal media," I thought I'd just share letter with all you poor slobs who have to live with your views filtered by the liberal media (stupid Fox News).
Karen Santorum
Dear Fellow American,I'm almost certain you don't know who I am, though you may recognize my last name. My husband, Rick, is the conservative United States Senator from Pennsylvania.
But he is also, and more importantly, a great father and husband. And that's what I wanted to write and tell you about today.
Why? Well, Rick is running for re-election to the Senate and already he's under attack. Ultra-liberal Democrats like Howard Dean, John Kerry and Charles Schumer have vowed to unseat him.
Chuck Shumer is an ultra-liberal?
Mr. Dean said he would do whatever it takes to win the election and given the source, I believe him 100 percent. I'm not naive at all about these things.
Of course she is not naive -- she's been in them same room as Karl Rove, Tom DeLay, both Bush family presidents. Once you've been near the Bugman, you can't remain a political virgin.
I understand that at first glance a race in Pennsylvania might not seem too urgent to you and your family. But I assure you it is.You see, before I chose to become a full-time mom, I received a law degree from the University of Pittsburgh and a bachelor of Science in Nursing from Duquesne. In fact, I worked for seven years as in a neonatal intensive care.
But when I decided to become the Santorum CFO - Chief of Family Operations - as a full-time mother I quickly realized I was taking on not only one of the most complex and challenging jobs available, I was stepping into the greatest job of my life, as well.
And nothing has brought me more joy. Now, like most families, I'm getting ready for the end of school and summer vacations. It's a time of year that always makes me pause, reflect on the year and anticipate our summer together.
It's hard to believe that 2006 is more than a quarter behind us. The weeks are flying by and my memories are flooded with thoughts of the typical adventures and events that, I suspect, await families like yours too.
Um ... who the hell in my family is running for Senate?
In fact, I came across this family photo taken last summer. It brought back such good memories that I wanted to share it with you. I've enclosed it with this letter. Take a look.(over, please)

Look! Karen was nice enough to help Rick make some copies.

That chaos is the whole gang. Yes, it's a lot of work. But when I think about all that Rick does as the leader of our family, I can't help but be proud. We have wonderful kids. Lots of them. But I couldn't ride herd on them all by myself. Believe me - not only do the American tax payers get their dollar's worth out of him ...
... I know he's pulling his fair share here at home, helping our family and me as we run the household.
That is why I can tell you with assurance that when he goes to work each day at around sunrise, it seems - I know that he's applying the same values and compassion that he brings to into our home to each piece of legislation he works on.
His concerns for our family reflect his concerns for yours.
When he and I sit down to discuss our family finances, though we're far from rich, we certainly consider ourselves blessed. But we're also quite aware of the strains on our budget.
So when Rick works on legislation that helps people put more food on their tables, he also knows it's not just helping Pennsylvania families, but your family, too. And families all across America.
He doesn't blindly cut taxes to "help the rich," as the far left likes to say. That's simply class warfare rhetoric designed to divide us. Rick knows well Congress will spend everything it can get its hands on and then some.
Doesn't anyone in politics ever hear from public speaking and writing coaches that adverbs are the outliers of knowing lies?!
I assume the truth behind "blindly" cutting taxes is that he's cutting taxes for the rich with his eyes wide open and LOVING IT!
Yeah, cause torturing brain-dead people really helps the country.
He fights to lower your taxes because he truly believes you need your money more than Congress does. He also knows that you have a far better idea of your family's needs than he or anyone else does in the House or Senate.Rick carefully weighs every decision he makes, and his criteria do not change with political polls. He measures each piece of legislation by asking some very straightforward, basic questions:
Is this going to help our families - are they going to be stronger? Is this going to help them economically and socially? Is this law going to benefit our society and make our nation better?
The answers to those questions are best found in policies based in our conservative roots. Our Founders were of the belief that freedom and liberty were far greater ideas than what the far left argues is "freedom" today - the right to do what you feel like doing, when you feel like doing it, regardless of the consequences.
(next page, please)
Yeah. We Democrats fuck like rabbits and abort babies. No wonder we totally want Osama to win.

Yet the far left that has basically taken over the Democrat Party has demonstrated that it will use no-holds-barred tactics to destroy anyone who challenges their "if it feels good do it" ideology. As the third ranking Republican, Rick is the focus of the radically liberal left now because he believes the left's present ideology has more to do with self-indulgence and excess than it has to do with liberty. The partial-birth abortion battle is a good case in point.
Many on the left are targeting Rick today solely because he championed the legislation that banned partial-birth abortions - infanticide, pure and simple. When President Bush signed that ban into law early in his first term, the radical left, in essence, placed a big bulls eye on Rick. He became their No. 1 Target.
Actually, no. I don't like the look of Santorum's face to be honest. In point of fact, I oppose abortion.
Few, if any, on the far left questioned the procedure that was banned. I suspect they wanted to be blissfully ignorant of the process. I don't blame them, really. It's gruesome.
So much so, in fact, that Rick believed it cruel and unusual, a practice, he would say, that "no nation that declares itself living as one under God should be conducting."
I actually agree. But let's add the death penalty, oil wars and general greed and avirice to that list, OK, Karen?
For many -archliberal-organizations, that -Rick is pro-life is reason enough for them to marshal their resources from around the nation against him.
He also believes our nation's security is vitally important and that we have a sovereign right to defend ourselves against murdering, paramilitary extremists who want to see America ripped asunder. Protecting our future is his top priority.
But that, too, has opened the door for leftist groups to conspire and help raise funds against him.
Today Rick's foremost opponent says he is pro-life and pro-American defense. Perhaps. But why are Howard Dean, Teddy Kennedy, John Kerry and other far-left Democrats doubling and tripling their efforts to raise money for him`?
Now aren't we getting a little tricky with the truth gang, because this seems like a pale attempt to say CASEY is pro-abortion.
Simple. The know that if a Democrat is elected regardless of his beliefs, he'll be forced to toe-the-radical Democrat-line, forced to support their rabidly liberal agenda.
Ultimately that is why this race is important to you and your family. The liberals don't care about the issues that you face. They simply want the seat ... and they are desperate to regain power in the Senate!
Did Karen miss the GOP's scuttling of Santorum's minimum wage proposal, one of my favorite straw man arguments they went through in the last year?

So I am asking you today for your help. I need you to help Santorum 2006 raise the $25 million needed to counter the huge influx of ultra-liberal money already pouring into Pennsylvania solely to defeat Rick. Will you make a contribution to his campaign today of $25, $35, $50, $100 or even $1,000 today? Will you stand with me today and help re-elect Rick Santorum, a true conservative voice for you and your family?
This race is going to draw more and more national attention. The mainstream media is already covering it almost daily. The press understands who Rick is and what he stands for, and they too are going to help the Democrats every step of the way.
Our campaign budget is $25 million a goal we must reach! So your help today is urgently needed. To get Rick's positive message to the voters we're going to need every financial resource we can muster ...
... because we cannot afford to have our message filtered and distorted by the liberal media. One more thing: whether or not your family is large or small, older and with families of their own ...we love to hear from you and see your loved ones. So why not send a snapshot along with your contribution in the pre-addressed envelope I've included? I'll make sure Rick sees your photo and adds it to the pictures of other friends and families we've received from people all across America over the years.
Thank you so much taking time out of your day to let me tell you about Rick, our family, and the campaign. I pray you and your family are blessed and safe in the days ahead, and I look forward to hearing from you.
Nah, I just read it because I find this sort of stuff amusing.
Sincerely,
Karen Santorum
Proud wife and motherP.S. If it's not too much trouble, please send me a photo of your family to add to our campaign scrapbook. We've received a lot of snapshots from friends around the country, as well and it would be great to include you and your family with them.
Just include your picture in the pre-addressed envelope I've prepared along with your contribution of $25, $35, $50, $100 or even $1,000 to Santorum 2006 and return both to me today. Your help is urgently needed! Thank you again.
There ya go gang! Totally unfiltered by the liberal media.
I bet you're all itchin' to send your donations. Too bad the courtesy card didn't have a check box for opting out.
Oh well. It's still cheaper than coffee.
